Purpose

The purpose of the Youth Ready Chicago Community Councils will be to further the work of the Regional Coordinating Councils by engaging and analysis of the regional data and developing a response that develops and supports a regional and citywide network of youth services throughout Chicago.

The Community Council will act as conduits in this system: linking community to DFSS and other city programming, reaching out to alderman and actively participating in developing a plan that will engage and develop a more comprehensive and coordinated safety net for children and youth in need throughout Chicago.

Program Goals & Expectations

o Develop a Community Council

o Ensure a joint community planning process effort to develop a community plan.

o Serve as an Information and Referral Hub for the Region

o Aldermanic Engagement: Meet with area alderman on a bi-annual basis to discuss community events, updates and areas of concern.

o Plan & implement an annual Back to School Event/Afterschool Enrollment Campaign in conjunction with community council agencies.

o Participate in meetings with other Community Councils and other City sponsored regional efforts.

o Work Collaboratively with DFSS.
