Teen WORK Exploring Opportunities & Addressing Challenges

Patricia Brady, PhD

Teen WORK
Exploring Opportunities and Addressing Challenges

Wednesday 4/20/2011

Come and meet Dr. Patricia Brady, who is passionate about working with teens. This workshop, Teen WORK, will address a current perspective on working with teens in an urban setting. What are the challenges that they face daily? What can we do to "reach" and "guide" them? Some strategies that are being used to work with teens will be examined with an opportunity for small group discussion. Why does the current living environment most often lead to becoming a teen parent? Come with thoughts, your own experience, enthusiasm and an opportunity to talk about Teen WORK. This workshop is geared to professionals working with parents and teen's, as well as parents wishing to learn more about teens.

Learning objectives:

1. Become more familiar with positive approaches to working with teens.
2. Gain a better understanding of the challenges that come with this developmental stage.
3. Examine lessons learned in working with "teen parents".
4. Gain insight in working with teens in the "urban setting".

Dr. Brady’s professional experience has been recognized by other experts in the field of Child Development all over the country. She was nominated and accepted as a ‘fellow’ by the National Center for Clinical Infant Program (NCCIP), currently known as ZERO TO THREE, which is a lifetime membership. Dr. Brady has also been on national television (The Today Show, Perspectives and Learning In America), and has lectured all over the Midwest on her “affective relationship” approach to development.
