What is the Phoenix Rising Summer Program?
The Phoenix Rising Summer Program provides an opportunity for NLCP students to participate in three consecutive summers of offsite enrichment experiences at leadership development programs, academic and college programs, and internships. Academic and university programs help students "practice" being away from home and allow them to sample the rigor necessary to be successful in college at universities such as Bradley University, Carleton College, University of Wisconsin, and Morehouse College. Internships last year included experiences at the Adler Planetarium, Hoops High/Free Spirit Media, and Transformers 3 -The Movie.
The mission of North Lawndale College Preparatory Charter High School is to prepare young people from under-resourced communities for graduation from high school with the academic skills and personal resilience necessary for successful completion of college.
